Around a year ago, it was announced that Varun Dhawan would play the lead role in Bollywood director Shashank Khaitan’s upcoming project Mr Lele. The makers also unveiled a first poster look online, featuring Varun Dhawan.
However, according to reports, the role has now been bagged by Vicky Kaushal. The film was shelved last year as actor Varun Dhawan was not content with the script and wanted the makers to refine it.
Shashank said that it was the best that the shooting was suspended as they would have spent huge pre-production costs due to the announcement of a nationwide lockdown in March 2020.
Talking about Mr Lele to Mid-Day, Shashank Khaitan said, “As per our original plan, we were supposed to start filming on March 13. The (suspension of shoots) was announced on March 15. So, the stalling of our film was a blessing in disguise; otherwise, we would have ended up spending a lot more on the pre-production.”
