The new title, Billy the Kid Dances His Heart Out, will be published on 2 December 2025, just in time for the holiday season.

The forthcoming book continues the adventures of Billy the Kid, a French bulldog inspired by Parton’s own god-dog. This time, Billy faces his stage fright as he prepares to dance in front of an audience at Dolly Parton’s Doggy Dance Pawty. To build his confidence, Billy takes dance lessons and finds himself captivated by his graceful teacher, Bella. The story explores themes of courage, friendship, and self-expression, promising a heartwarming experience for young readers.

Billy the Kid Dances His Heart Out is co-written by Dolly Parton and children’s author Erica S. Perl, with illustrations by MacKenzie Haley. In addition to the print edition, an audiobook narrated by Parton herself will be available. The release will also be accompanied by a brand-new original song from Parton, titled “Bella,” further enhancing the book’s musical spirit.
